Meet Pat

Pat is the Assemblyman for New York’s 142nd Assembly District. A South Buffalo native, Pat is working to make this region a better place for his family and all who live in Western New York.

When Pat was elected Erie County Legislator in 2013, he was a newcomer to the political scene. Committed to strong policy that makes our community and its families safer, healthier, and happier, Pat championed several causes and had many notable legislative accomplishments including a ban on microbead plastics, a repeal of Sunday Blue Laws, a million-dollar emergency fund created to combat the opioid crisis, and the formation of the Erie County Broadband Committee.

With three kids of his own, protecting the health and wellbeing of children has been at the forefront of Pat’s legislative efforts. As a County Legislator, he banned smoking in a vehicle with children, wrote the PENCE Bill (Prevention of Emotional Neglect and Child Endangerment) to end harmful gay conversion therapy, and championed a local law implementing a Youth Concussion Protocol to ensure the safety of minors playing contact sports.

His record earned him the trust of his constituents who re-elected him in 2015 and 2017.

Since being elected to the New York State Assembly in November 2018, Pat has helped pass sweeping election law reforms, end abusive gay conversion therapy, and remove the mandate that state-created or administered assessments be used for teacher and principal evaluations.

In 2019, Pat had six bills passed by the Assembly and Senate, five of which have been signed into law by the governor. Because of his hard work, we now have laws in place to further protect child victims, waive certain fees for Erie County Veterans’ posts, and require public hearings and increased transparency for state park closures.

Pat has also secured a level of funding that our district hasn’t seen in years, which will contribute to major projects throughout the 142nd district.

Pat is running for re-election to the New York State Assembly so he can continue advocating for his constituents and his community in Albany. He will always prioritize fighting for the middle class, keeping our kids safe, and defending our environment.
